Bruce Rock Crop Risk Meeting
Over 100 farmers from as far away as Bencubbin , Katanning, Lake Grace and Quairading packed the Bruce Rock Hall for a Multi Peril Crop Insurance forum organized in conjunction with local Liberal branch president Stephen Strange.
Agriculture Region MLC Brian Ellis, South West MLC Nigel Hallett and MHR Wilson Tuckey also travelled to Bruce Rock to attend.
In a telephone link-up from New Zealand, a representative from AON Risk Service told the forum how the scheme operates in other countries.
The WA graingrowers were unanimous in their support for an MPCI scheme, which they see as a potential replacement for a large portion of Exceptional Circumstances funding.
Their enthusiasm was not lost on WAFarmers grain council president Derkek Clauson, who also attended the Forum.
Mr Tuckey said the scheme would need bilateral support from the State and Federal Government to get off the ground, and encouraged farmers to lobby their local MPs. He warned that the Labor federal government might need some convincing.
