$2000 community grants to help kids
Community Services Minister Robyn McSweeney has encouraged communities eager to improve the wellbeing of young children to apply for an Early Years Activities Grant worth up to $2,000.
The program is undertaken through an annual State Government funding investment of $300,000 which provides grants to community groups and organisations across the State for activities targeting children aged 0-8 years, their families and carers.
The aim of these grants is to identify early year priorities in local communities to ensure there are plenty of opportunities for the growth of young children, particularly in isolated communities where these options may not be so readily available.
Activities to be promoted through the grants should seek to improve the wellbeing of young children in a community; support families in nurturing and caring for their children; and engage communities in the co-ordination of resources supporting early childhood.
Community groups and organisations interested in applying should contact their local Department for Communities children’s services officers located across the State. Contact details can be accessed at: http://www.communities.wa.gov.au/childrenandfamilies/childcare/Pages/ChildrensServicesOfficers.aspx
