Goodbye to electricity headworks charges
Regional small businesses located more than 25km from a substation can wave goodbye to electricity headworks charges and say hello to refunds.
From 1 July 2010 those who need a new or expanded electricity supply have had their Distribution Headworks costs totally subsidised, and were able to apply for the refund of any charges paid since the scheme was introduced in 2007.
The subsidy is capped at $1million for each connection, with applications greater than this amount dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Individual connection charges still apply.
The waiving of the headworks charges for small business provides a morale boost and incentive to regional communities.
