Looking for an after-hours doctor instead of making a trip to the emergency department?
A new iPhone application and campaign to raise awareness about after-hours general practitioner (GP) services has been
launched in WA.
Clinic locations and opening times are also available at http://www.health.wa.gov.au where you simply type in the name
of your town or suburb and hit 'search'.

The 'app' and associated campaign were funded within the After Hours General Practice Program - a State Government
commitment of $8.4million over four years to encourage GPs to extend their opening hours to include weeknights and
weekends.
With the iPhone app you can:
SEARCH for an after-hours GP clinic by town or suburb BROWSE the list of after-hours GP clinics with opening hours,
address and phone details.
FIND the after-hours GP clinics nearest to your current location on Google-powered maps.
GET DIRECTIONS to after-hours clinics from your current location.
CALL an after-hours GP clinic straight from the app to make an appointment.
ADD the nearest after-hours GP clinic information to your contacts.
The iPhone app contains information about 47 GP after-hours services - including locum services - and is designed to be
updated as required.
It is an opt-in campaign for medical surgeries, but any service which opened before 8am and after 6pm weekdays; before
8am and after 12pm Saturdays; and any time on Sundays and public holidays is free to take part.
