Training for at-risk kids
At-risk kids in the Swan Valley area will benefit from a $5,000 grant from the Youth Grant Program.
The money has been provided to Directions, a not-for-profit organisation which manages the Caversham Training and Enterprise Centre (CTEC).

The Centre offers training in building, construction, general education and rural operations, and the organisation offers job placements, manages apprenticeship and traineeship programs and provides customised training and consultancy services to businesses.

They have offices in Northam, Midland, Narrogin and Merredin.

The grant will help recruit indigenous school leavers and ‘at risk’ youth into a work-ready program in conjunction with agencies and support networks in the Swan area. It will be a specially tailored hands-on program designed to reduce the current high levels of school drop-outs.

The Youth Grants WA program was established by the State Government to provide funding support for initiatives and activities that encourage youth participation and the provision of services for young people. The program is administered by the Department for Communities’ Office for Youth, and grants of up to $5,000 per application are available.
